How are my chicks delivered?

The chicks are shipped by USPS Priority Mail the same day that they hatch.  When they arrive to you they are 24-72 hours old.  Day old chicks ship Monday thru Wednesdays.  Baby chicks ingest the yolk before they hatch.  This is enough to feed the chicks and keep them happy until they arrive at their destination!
How long will it take for my chicks to arrive at the post office after they have been shipped?
After you have received your Order Shipped email, this means that your birds have in fact shipped.  It should take 1-2 business days to get to your post office after they have left our facility.
Will the post office deliver the chicks to my home?
No, your post office will call you when they get your chicks in and you are responsible for picking them up from there.  The post office will call the number you gave us upon entering your order online or called in.
What if I cannot request the ship date that I want?
This may occur because we have sold out of those chicks for that day, pick another date that works for you, and keep in mind the shipping should take 1-2 business days to get to your post office.
Ship Dates: Please specify a desired delivery dates on the order form.  After receiving the order, we will contact you by email with a ship date.  Expect your order to arrive at your local post office in one to three days from the shipping date.  Be aware that 98% of orders arrive within two days.  We do our best to meet the scheduled shipment date.  If we are unable to provide chicks on the scheduled hatch day, you can choose to reschedule or receive a refund or store credit.  We ship chicks on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  We fill orders on a first come, first served basis.  It is important to place your paid order  as soon as possible to get the best chance at earlier ship dates.  Typically, an order can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks.  Please let us know if you are willing to accept any substitutions to have a quicker ship date.

Please be sure to open all boxes at the post office and examine chicks at time of pick up!

If a loss occurs during shipment, our policy requires that it must be verified on the day of arrival.  Please sent us an email at thechickhatchery@yahoo.com.

Re-shipments are subject to availability and minimum shipping requirements.  We will only reship replacement chicks once.

Reimbursements are limited to the cost of the birds and will NOT include shipping charges.

What happens if I have chicks that are dead upon arrival? Can I get a refund or re-ship?
We will refund and/or give a replacement for the death loss of birds if you report the death loss within 48 hours of arrival.  If the death loss is less than 15, we only offer a refund because shipping less than 15 will result in more death loss during shipping.  If the death loss is more than 15, we can offer a refund OR replacement at your discretion.  As our customer, your satisfaction is our number one priority.  We want to ensure you have the best experience possible.  The Chick Hatchery does not supply extra birds in shipments.
